Ada "Jean" Hemmingway Grimes

Jean was born November 3, 1946, one of nine children, to Roy and Ora Turner Hemmingway in Mount Pleasant, Indiana. She met and married the love of her life, Bill, on July 3, 1964 and they began their lives together, raising three precious daughters. Jean was a long time resident of Azle. She was an avid bass fisherman and loved her family and her roses.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Bill Grimes; daughters, Barbara Cobb of Greenville, Sondra Negrete and Elton Gamage, of Azle and Lorrie Grimes of Arlington; six grandchildren, Ryan, Aaron, Dawson, Calvin, Savannah and Erika; one great-grandchild; one sister; three brothers; and Dobie "Fuzzy Face", long time companion.

Helen S. Rogers was a longtime registered nurse. She was in the first graduating class of registered nurses at the University of Texas in Galveston in 1950. Helen and her husband, Jimmy, established a Parkinson's support group at Eagle Mountain United Methodist Church, where they were both very active, longtime members. Helen and Jimmy were both very involved in the In As Much Food Pantry at Eagle Mountain UMC.

The family wishes to thank Jack's Place in Euless for providing the loving caring and nurturing for our mother in her final days.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Jackson, and her parents.

Survivors include children, Kathey Drennan, Douglas Rogers and wife, Lori, and Jeanne LaGrone; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sally Attaway; brother, William Singleton and wife, Jane Ann; and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.

Ruben D. Zapata
Ruben was born October 9, 1924 near Los Ebanos to the late Federico F. Zapata and Maria F. Zapata. He was the oldest of four boys. Ruben attended La Joya High School. When World War II broke out, Ruben was called to serve his country. He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific aboard the USS Calvert from 1943 to 1945 bringing relief supplies to Japan. When he returned, he attended the University of Houston. He married his wife, in Los Ebanos, Alicia M. Flores in 1949. They lived in Houston until 1954, when they returned to South Texas to settle in McAllen. Together they raised three children. Ruben worked as a television repairman for an appliance store until he was able to open his own shop in Mission. He retired in 1983 and he and his wife moved to "the farm" in Mission. They lived there until they moved back to McAllen in 1995. In 2008, they moved to Crowley's St. Francis Village. In 2010 they moved to Azle. They enjoyed traveling, he enjoyed his cattle and coffee buddies and walking.

Survivors include his wife, Alicia M. Zapata of Azle; son, Andy Zapata and wife, Genny of Azle; daughter, Nora Z. Montez and husband Fernando;son, Vito J. Zapata and wife, Karen; brothers, Ricardo and wife, Diane of Seattle, Wash., Reynaldo of Hollywood, Calif., Ramiro and wife, Mercedes of McAllen; one granddaughter; seven grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

William Bruce Rose

Bruce was born on July 3, 1946, son of Billy A. and Velma Noah Rose, in Abilene. He met Barbara Sue Scaling, and they married in Fort Worth on July 31, 1969 and together they raised their two children. They spent their lives together riding motorcycles, hunting, skiing, camping, driving jeeps and vacationing in Lake City, Colorado every summer. Bruce was an active member of Ash Creek Baptist Church for many years and was very active in the community prior to his retirement from First Bank in Azle. He lived a full life filled with family, friends and fun and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Billy A. Rose of Abilene, who was killed in an accident when Bruce was 6. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Velma Springfield of Azle.

Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Barbara; daughter, Christi Read and husband, Randy, and their son, Daxen; son, Barry Rose and wife, Mindi, and their son, Briggs; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and loving friends.

Barbara Plowman

Barbara was born in Fort Worth June 16, 1950 to Charles and Betty Heffington Osborne. She was employed with Cooks Children's Hospital for 15 years. Barbara was a member of the First Baptist Church of Castle Hills in Azle.

She was preceded in death by her mother; and brother, Clinton Osborne.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Max Plowman of Fort Worth; son, Jonathan Plowman also of Fort Worth; daughters, Tracy Lange and husband, Tim of Saginaw, Joy Chapman and husband, Jason of Bedford and Lori Booterbaugh and husband, James of Fort Royal, Va.; grandchildren, Grace, Charlie, Grayson, Chloe, Colton, Conner, Richie, and Jordan; father, Charles Osborne; brother, Jack Osborne; and a host of loving family and friends.

Betty McCarroll

Betty was born May 30, 1947 in Grand Saline to Charlie and Mildred Borcherding. She had lived in the Azle area since 1979. Betty and husband, Lloyd were married May 11, 1963.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Charles and Paul Dean Borcherding.

Survivors include husband, Lloyd McCarroll of Azle; son, Lloyd McCarroll, Jr of Azle; grandchildren, Bobbie Deaton and Steven Lawton; brother, James Borcherding; sisters, Wanda Gail Morelli and Juanita Bosley and a host of loving friends.

Daisy Clarke Lutz

Daisy Roma Lutz was born June 10, 1916, in Plainview, daughter of the late Charles Henry and Candace Ruth Selvidge Clarke. She worked alongside her husband, Don Lutz, for Lutz Jewelry in Hurst and was a devout Christian who served as a Sunday school teacher and member of the choir at Possum Kingdom Baptist Church. Daisy was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Daisy was preceded in death by her husband, Don M. Lutz; son, Don Arthur Lutz; and her parents.

Survivors include daughters, Sally Lutz Day and husband, Joe, of Weatherford and Kathy Lutz St. George of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; daughter-in-law, LaVerne Lutz of Krum; grandchildren, Shannon Day of Austin, Charlie Day of Austin, Vickie Lutz Walden and husband, Dan, of Bartlesville and Don Ray Lutz of Oklahoma City; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many loving friends and church family.

Carroll Eidson Hobbs

Carroll was born November 22, 1947, as Wanda Carroll Eidson, the second child and only daughter of Jack Leigh and Wanda Carroll Eidson, in Houston. She was 2 years old when the family moved to Weatherford, where she grew up. She was a swimmer for PBC, played the piano, and was a Curved Bar girl scout, a cheerleader, and football sweetheart at Weatherford High School from which she graduated in 1965.

She attended Stephens College in Missouri for one year, returned to North Texas University and then transferred to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth where she graduated in 1972 with degrees in Elementary and Physical Education. She taught Kindergarten in Aledo, Lubbock, and Weatherford schools. In Lubbock, she also taught aerobic dancing for several years and was a member of the Lubbock Junior League.

In her first marriage, she had two children, Christopher Stephen Pipes and Eric Bryan Pipes with her then husband, William E. Pipes. Later, she met and married Roy Gene Hobbs in 1982 and, together, had a daughter Tiffany Dawn Hobbs. Roy and Carroll lived in Lubbock, where she helped raise all her new family, including stepchildren Roy Scott Hobbs and Angela Kay Hobbs.

After Roy died in 2000, Carroll moved back to Weatherford with her daughter Tiffany and continued teaching until her retirement. Being a caring and hard working person, she helped in the care of her father and with Tiffany and the nurturing of her granddaughter, Aubrey.

Ronnel Wayne "Ron" Leathers

Ronnel Wayne Leathers was born July 10, 1943, in Paris, son of the late Buford Wayne and Hazel Louise Walker Leathers. He served with dedication as an aircraft mechanic in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged after four years of service. Ron married the former Linda Alice McKim in Paris on Dec. 20, 1964, and they began their life together. More than anything else, Ron loved working as a silversmith and made it his career for more than 40 years.

Ron graduated with the class of 1962 from Paris High School and was a member of North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford.

Ron was preceded in death by a son, Chris Leathers; his parents; sister, Margaret Wilson; and brother, Mitchell Leathers.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Leathers of Poolville; children, Suzett Oppenheimer and husband, Jon, of Weatherford, and Tracy Leathers and wife, Dotty, of Poolville; grandchildren, Justin and wife, Jessica, Kristen, Shelby, and Courtney; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn and Kameron; and a host of loving friends.
