Lady Roos’ season ends in bidistrict

The Weatherford Kangaroos are hoping to follow up one of the most successful seasons in school history with another run starting this week against Keller in their Class 6A bidistrict series. 

Game 1 was being played Thursday, May 2 in Keller at press time, with Game 2 in Weatherford at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 3. A third game, if necessary, will be played at noon Saturday, May 4 in Keller.

The Kangaroos (25-6-1) finished as the runners-up in District 3-6A. Keller (19-11-1) was third in 4-6A with a 7-5 league record.

In 2023 Weatherford reached the 6A Region I semifinals before falling in three games to state champion Lewisville Flower Mound. Along the way, the Kangaroos defeated Keller two games to one in the regional quarterfinals.

Timber Creek ends Lady Roos’ season

The Weatherford Lady Roos ended the season with a 16-11 overall record after being ousted in their bidistrict contest against Keller Timber Creek (20-13-2) in three games. 

Timber Creek won the opener at home 1-0 on Thursday, April 25. Weatherford won Game 2 at home on Friday, April 26, 10-7 and Timber Creek won the third game 6-2 at Northwest High School on Saturday, April 27.

The first game was a pitchers’ dual with Weatherford giving up only three hits but getting only two. The Lady Roos then won the second game despite getting outhit 10-8.

Weatherford was the runner-up in District 3-6A with a 9-3 league mark and Timber Creek was third in 4-6A with a 6-6 district record.
