Bearcats pace district honors

Led by a quartet of superlative honors, the Aledo Bearcats received plenty of accolades from the league’s coaches on the All-District 5-5A Boys Soccer Team.

Sophomore Trapper Davis was named the Utility Player of the Year and sophomore Brody Gill was selected as Offensive Newcomer of the Year. The Offensive MVP is junior midfielder Austin Randriemahefa.

Derek Vierling of the Bearcats shared Coach of the Year honors with Brewer’s Rafael Franco.

Named to the first team from Aledo were junior forward Cole Crawford and sophomore midfielder Robby Sloan. Second-team picks went to defenders Hunter Waugh (sophomore) and Trent Newton (freshman).

Honorable mentions are senior goalkeeper Deagan Dietz and senior defender Harrison Hobbs, along with junior defender Elliott Smith and freshman midfielder Evan Randriamehefa.

The Bearcats finished fourth in district with a 5-3-4 record and were 14-4-6 overall. They advanced to the second round of the playoffs.
