Beryl Mervin MarmionBeryl Mervin Marmion, 94, went to be with Lord Sunday, December 25, 2011.

Beryl was born Sep. 7, 1917 in Farmington, Iowa. He was a devoted husband and father, and greatly loved the Lord. He was a long time resident of southern California, and a recent resident of Weatherford. Mr. Marmion loved helping people and never met a stranger. Mr. Marmion was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.

Survivors: wife of 70 years, Veda; sons, David Marmion and wife, Gail, Richard Marmion and wife, Pam, all of California; daughter, Robin Moore and husband, Robert of Weatherford; ten grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eileen and Erma.

Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m., Thursday Dec. 29 at North Side Baptist Church. Interment: Private.

Edward Wetah MinceDr. Edward Wetah Mince, 86, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011.

Dr. Mince was born Sept. 12, 1925 in Canton to Flynn and Pearl Carter Mince. He graduated from Martins Mill High School in 1941 at the age of 15. He joined the Army Air Corps, December of 1943, where he trained to fly on the B 17 bomber.

On May 29, 1944 he married Marie Thomas in Dallas. He was discharged from the service in May 1946. He graduated from SMU in January 1949 with a degree in business administration. He received his Master of Science degree in History from East Texas State Teacher's College in May 1951, and received his PhD in Philosophy and College Administration in June 1968 from the University of Texas in Austin.

He served as Dean at Henderson County Junior College from 1949 to 1956 and at Cisco Junior College from 1956 to 1965. Dr. Mince became president of Ranger Junior College in 1965. In 1971, he moved to Weatherford where he served as president of Weatherford College for 22 years.

He was the longest serving president in the history of Weatherford College. From 1968 to 1991, he served on various state and national community college boards and committees, and then from 1988 to 1989, he was the president of the Texas Associations of Community Colleges. He also served on the National Community College Board and the visitation teams of The Southern Association of Colleges.

John Jackson Wright, Jr. John Jackson Wright, Jr., 88, of Weatherford, died Saturday evening Dec. 24, 2011 in the local hospital.

Born April 29, 1923 in Vera, Texas, Wright was a resident of Weatherford for many years. He was a retired Division Manager for AMOCO Pipeline and member of the South Main Church of Christ. John was a Veteran of the U. S. Army Air Force where he served as a navigator on a B-29 during World War II.

Survivors: Wife of 69 years, Kathleen Wright of Weatherford; sons: Stan Wright and wife, Toni of Brownwood, Tom Wright and wife, Rebecca of Roanoke; three grandchildren – Randy Wright, Jenny Moore, Jim Wright
three step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 30, 2011 in the South Main Church of Christ with interment in the East Greenwood Cemetery.
Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 at the funeral home.

Delta Brown KrauseDelta Brown Krause, 72, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in a Fort Worth hospital.

Delta was born in Springtown to the late A. D. and S. B. Hinkle Brown May 12, 1939. She and husband Stanley were married April 25, 1995 in Weatherford.

She loved poetry, sewing and cooking. In 1997 and 1998 she won American Poet Awards for poetry she had written. Delta had three published books of poetry. Delta was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Jaclyn Deaver.

Survivors: husband, Stanley Krause of Azle; daughter, Benita Deaver of Mineral Wells; son, Enoch Deaver of Fort Worth; stepdaughter, Pamela Posey and husband, Troy of Stanton; stepson, Paul Krause and wife, Kyra of Canyon; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Hall of Springtown; brother, Don Brown and wife, Barbara of Weatherford; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of loving family and friends.

Graveside Service: 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 23 at Goshen Cemetery in Springtown. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to Cowboys for Christ, P.O. Box 7557, Fort Worth, TX 76111.

Bobby Earl "Bob" CummingsBobby Earl "Bob" Cummings, 70, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2011.

Bob was born May 8, 1941, son of the late Hoy and Vera Weldon Cummings in Tioga. He was a long time resident of Dennis. Bob was an oil field air compressor specialist and consultant. He was well known for his ability for dowsing, or "witching", for water, oil and gas.

He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. Bob's greatest love was training horses; however, his family was the most important thing in his life. Bob and Patsy both loved the ocean and their favorite vacation was going to Port Aransas. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.

Bob is survived by spouse, Patsy Cummings of Dennis; sons, Mat Cummings and wife, Patricia of Brock, Kevin Harwell and wife, Tammy of Weatherford, Eric Harwell of Weatherford; daughter, Gena Brown and husband, Kenneth of Weatherford; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Oleta Billmier of Pilot Point, Louise Frasco of Florida; and many, many special friends and family members.

Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Friday at White's Chapel of Memories. Interment: Brock Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at White's Funeral Home.

Eugene BerkleyAuthor Andrew Eugene Berkley, 75, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 16, 2011.

Eugene was born July 17, 1936 in Weatherford, Texas, the youngest of seven children of James and Lora Berkley. He was a member of North Side Baptist Church for over fifty years.

He leaves behind his wife, Frances Berkley of Weatherford, his sister Margaret Bolter of Fort Worth, his son Eddie Berkley and wife Kelly, his daughter Vickie Ezell and husband John, and youngest son Rickie Berkley, all of Weatherford. Six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00, Monday at White's Funeral Home.: Service at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 20, at North Side Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Greenwood Community Cemetery.

Shawn Michael PennyShawn Michael Penny, 23, of Weatherford, died Sunday, December 18, 2011.

Shawn was an auto mechanic, a former meter reader for the city of Springtown, a former volunteer firefighter for the Peaster VFD, he loved music and loved people and was welcoming to all strangers.

He is survived by his son, Kaiven Sylis Penny of Peaster, parents, Randy and Melissa Penny of Peaster, brother, Dillon Blaine Penny of Peaster, maternal grandparents, Jim and June Hill of Gordon, paternal grandmother, Rose Penny of Weatherford, numerous friends and other relatives.

George SkaggsGeorge Thomas "papaw" Skaggs, 64, died Monday, December 19, 2011.

Tom was born April 12, 1947 to G.B. and Goldie Skaggs in Fort Worth. He honorably served his country in the USAF-B52-Bombers, 7th Bomb Wing 1966-1970. Tom retired from B.F. Goodrich formally Menasco.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Via Vonne Guthrie; brothers, Robert and Harry Young.

Survivors: Wife, of 43 years LaJuan; daughter, Diana and Mike Bosch; son, Glenn Skaggs and Jessica all of Springtown; beloved grandsons, Cameron Bosch, Colby Bosch and Noah Skaggs; sister-in-law, Tommie Jo Young of Richardson; several nieces and nephews; and special thanks to the Midway Baptist Church family and to Dr Xiong with the Center for Cancer and chemo buddie, Janel Hollister.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at Midway Baptist Church, 4110 E. Hwy 199, Reno.

Virginia Mae Davis Morgan

Virginia Mae Davis Morgan, 70, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at her home in Weatherford.

There will be no services.

Preceding her in death are her father and mother, Lonnie and Jewel Davis; and twin brother, Lonnie R. Davis.

Survivors: She is survived by husband, Robert Morgan; daughter, Kathy Mellichamp and husband, Dallas; sons, James Morgan and wife, Sherri, Stephen Morgan and wife, Darla; daughter, Melissa, daughter-in-law, Shari Morgan; grand-children, David Morgan and wife, Sarah, Becky Morgan, Jennifer Morgan, James Morgan II and wife, Amber, and Callie Mellichamp; great-grandchildren, Brandon Morgan, Emma Mellichamp, Aidan Morgan and Alexis Morgan; sister, Loreta Peyrot and husband, James; nephews, Lonnie Davis Jr., Jason Davis, and James Peyrot Jr.; and special friends, Vaughn and Jacque Baker, Dora Jones and Sarah Jones.

Douglas HargisDouglas Hargis, 73, passed away, Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011.

Doug was born April 4, 1938, in El Dorado, Ark., to Earl and Jessie Hargis. He was a longtime resident of Weatherford. Doug was an avid fisherman and enjoyed every day of his life.

Doug was predeceased by his parents; wife, Linda Kaye; and a brother.
Survivors: Son, Jeff Hargis and wife, Connie, of Weatherford; grandson, Jordan Hargis of Weatherford; sister-in-law, Diane Hyatt and husband, Gary; sister, Gwen Greene; granddaughters, Mindy, Tammy and Jennifer; niece, Cari Slovak; and nephew, Glen Hyatt.

Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at White's Chapel of Memories. Interment following in Memory Gardens of the Valley. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
