Johnny Ray RmithJohnny Ray Smith, 78, died on Friday, June 15, 2012, surrounded by family at his home in Springtown.

Johnny Ray Smith was born March 10, 1934, in Hickory Plains, Ark., son of the late John B. and Ollie M. Smith.

He loved to be on the water and especially loved drag boats.

Johnny was also a NASCAR fanatic. He knew all the drivers and the numbers to their cars.

Johnny's wit made all who came in contact with him love him even more. Everyone liked to be around Johnny. He was a member of Hilltop Family Church.

Johnny was preceded in death by his daughter, Tami Rico; his parents; and two brothers, Willard and Kirby Smith.

Survivors: Wife of 48 years, Jeanni Smith of Springtown; sons, Johnny "Peanut" Smith II of Springtown, Johnnie L. Conway and wife, Cindy, of Springtown, Terry W. Conway of Wichita, Kan., and Jackie R. Conway of Springtown; ten grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Freddie G. Smith and wife, Lois, of Biscoe, Ark.; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.

Celebration of life: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hilltop Family Church, 1227 Cottondale Road, Springtown. Interment: Springtown Cemetery.

Shirley Ann Dory DeCoopman beloved wife, partner, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and dear friend lost her battle with colon cancer on Friday June 8, 2012.

In lieu of a memorial service, a celebration of life will be held at a future date.

In-kind donations may be made to the Azle Animal Shelter or American Cancer Society.

Shirley was born on Shirley Ann Dory DeCoopman in Detroit, Michigan to Edward and Lucille Dory. On November 10, 1962, she married her childhood sweetheart, Thomas DeCoopman, Sr. who precedes her in death.

Shirley lived her life to the fullest. She approached each day with zest and enthusiasm. She found the most happiness in helping others. Her fun spirit and vitality will be forever missed.

Shirley will be remembered by her very good friend, Michael Mozisek; son, Thomas DeCoopman, Jr.; daughter, Trisha and husband, Darrel Susman; grandchildren, Thomas DeCoopman III, Julian Susman; great-grandchildren, Braden and Landen DeCoopman and many dear relatives, nieces, nephews and friends.

Ann "Nannie" Lowe
Ann was born July 23, 1937 in Fort Worth. She attended Paschal High School. Ann loved to read and bake and was known for her wonderful fudge and banana nut bread. Ann loved to babysit her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, William Compton in 1983; parents; and brother, Bill Franks.

Survivors, Husband, James Lowe; daughter, Janet Lewis and husband, Donald all of Azle; grandchildren, Brenna Sanders and husband, Johnnie of Fort Worth, Kevin Williams of Cresson; great-grandchildren, Madison and Hunter; brother, Bob Franks and wife, Karen of Grand Saline; two nieces; and a host of loving friends.

Richard was born to Richard Arthur and Ruth Paulson Osborne June 24, 1967 in Seattle, Wash. Richard dearly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Melanie Long

Melanie Rose Long was born July 27, 1985, in Fort Worth, daughter of Anthony Caldwell and Marie Brown. She attended Springtown High School and married Brian Long on October 31, 2008, in Joshua. Melanie liked to shop and loved music.

Carroll Edgar "Sonny" Lindsey, Jr.

Carroll was born to Carroll Edgar and Vandene Lindsey on November 7, 1930 in Fort Worth. Carroll joined the United States Army/Air Force in 1948 and retired in 1973 at the rank of Master Sergeant and a Flight Engineer at Travis Air Force Base in California. He was a Vietnam veteran and during his military career, he served overseas in Japan, Okinawa and Turkey. He met his wife, Michiko (Mickey), while stationed in Japan and was married on April 17, 1956 and returned to Texas in 1958. They left for California in 1962 and later returned to Texas in 1978 where they made their home in Azle. After his retirement from the military, he went to Solano Community college in California and earned an Associates of Arts degree in Marketing. He later majored as Automotive Service Technician at TCJC NW Campus. He kept busy trying his hands at various trades until he was employed at General Dynamics and retired in 1991. He became a Christian later in life and it changed him. Studying the Bible and having daily devotional time with God became important to him. He was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church for many years.

Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Thelma Jean Shields.

Pleasant "Thomas" O'Rear

Thomas was born January 13, 1932, in DeKalb, to Emmitt and Sylvia Son O'Rear. He had lived in Azle and was a member of Ash Creek Baptist Church for 54 years. He was a brick mason, and co-owner of O&S Construction Company in Fort Worth.

He married Ruby Wyvonne "Wyvie" Wood, July 3, 1952, in Texarkana. Thomas honorably served in the United States Army in Korea for two years early in their marriage.

Thomas was a member of the Azle Masonic Lodge, as well as a charter member of the Aztec Saddle Club in Azle.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; and great-granddaughter, Logyn Brooke Jeter.

Survivors: His wife of almost 60 years, Wyvie Wood O'Rear; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cheryl O'Rear of Azle; daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Bo Jeter of Azle; daughter, Pam Ashford of DeWitt, Ark.; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and John Coontz of Azle; grandchildren, J'son Jeter and wife, Brooke, Jill Lane and husband, Scott, Jacob Jeter and wife, Amy, Chance Walker, Janna Espinoza and husband, Joey, Derek O'Rear and wife, Brianne, Cody Mahan and Hayden Mahan; and great-granddaughters, Reese Jeter, Makenna Lane, Landrie Lane, Paisley Jeter, Adisyn Walker, Holyn Espinoza and Aubree O'Rear.

Steven Michael Dauenhauer

Steven was born April 1, 1966, in Vallejo, CA and moved to Springtown in 1968. Steven grew up in Springtown where, after graduation, he began his career in construction contracting. With a work ethic that would and does continue to inspire those around him, Steven built a very successful contracting and construction company. His work is not only evident in and around Springtown but across Texas as well as neighboring states.

As much as he was a successful businessman, his true success was in who he was as a person. Steven left behind a legacy of kindness, honor, integrity and love. He let his love of the Lord and his Christian faith guide his life. He gave back to his community through his work at his church, local schools and civic organizations. As a volunteer coach and youth leader at his church, he was a role model and mentor. His impact was especially felt by the community's youth since he was always willing to go above and beyond if he thought it would benefit the kids. This role model and mentor influence also had a deep effect on the adults around him. He was a leader of men and inspired those around him to do their best.

Carl David Duhon

Carl Duhon was born July 1, 1948 to Carl E. Duhon and Betty Lou Duhon in Port Arthur, Texas. He grew up in Orangefield, Texas and graduated from Orangefield High School where he was active in various sports and athletics.

David attended the University of Dallas where he earned a B.A. in Political Philosophy in 1970 and a Masters of Science in International Trade in 1976. While earning his undergraduate degree, he met and married his college classmate, Linda Mae Dueser, and they were married for 43 years. Following graduation, they moved to Athens, Navasota, and McAllen, Texas before returning to Irving and settling there.

For a portion of his adult life, David ran a successful small business before pursuing a career in education. He taught in Irving Independent School District from 1994 until he retired in 2011. He taught special education at all levels and was passionate and gifted at making a positive difference in the lives of all his students.

David was very active in pursuing higher education and earned a Masters of Education from Lamar University in 2009. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time at the family farm in Cross Plains, Texas. His relationship with Christ was the most important thing in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl E. Duhon and Betty Lou Duhon.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Duhon of Weatherford, daughter Sarah Duhon of Fort Worth, and son David J. Duhon of Stephenville.
