William Afton Daniel
William Afton Daniel was born May 16, 1934, in Clay County, to Jewel Wilson and Henry Richard Daniel. He graduated from Mountain View High School in Mountain View, Okla. in 1953. In Oct. 1953, he joined the Army, where he worked on helicopters and learned skills that would eventually lead him to a career with the Federal Aviation Administration. He retired from the F.A.A. in 1994 and ran his own aviation consulting firm, Bill Daniel and Associates, until December 2009.

It was in 1955, while stationed at Fort Rucker, Ala. that William met and married the love of his life, Margaret Snellgrove. William and Margaret were married on Oct. 27, 1956, in Newton, Ala. Together they were blessed with five children, Douglas, Karen, Bruce, Laura and Aelanda.

A special thank you to the staff at Estates Health Care and Texas Hospice for their care and support during William's final days.

Joel "Fred" Burrow

Fred was born November 17, 1925 in Russell, Okla. to the late Joel Elmore and Edith Elizabeth Burrow. He was a member of the Lakeside Church of God and was retired from the Azle ISD Maintenance Department.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edna Burrow; and thirteen brothers and sisters.

Survivors: Brothers, Earl Burrow of Springfield, Mo. and Glenn Burrow of Casa Grande, Ariz.; numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends.

Concetta Picudella

Concetta was born March 22, 1937 and was a longtime resident of Springtown. She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Concetta dearly loved her family and grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maria Palazzolo; husband, Joseph; and a brother, Joseph.

Survivors: sons, John Picudella and wife, Melissa of Calif. and Mark Picudella and wife, Amy of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Luke, Jacob and Maxwell; and a host of loving friends

A.J. Miller was born July 13, 1933. He was a dairy farmer and a faithful member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church.

A.J. was preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor and Joe Miller.

Survivors: Wife of 41 years, Theresa; daughters, Judith and husband, Dennis, and Jacqueline and husband, Michael; granddaughter, Lauren; and a host of loving church family and friends.

Helen Bellenger

Helen was born December 28, 1917 in Salesville. She graduated from Peaster High School in 1936. Helen met and married Howard Bellenger in 1936 in Peaster and they began their life together. She worked as a librarian for 21 years at T. W. Stanley and Sam Houston Elementary schools.

Helen was a proud member of the Tuesday Night Supper Club and also was a member of the First Baptist Church for 67 years. She also volunteered at Campbell Memorial Hospital for many years.

Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Bellenger; daughter, Joan Milburn; and grandson, Trecy Milburn.

Survivors include: son, Dana Bellenger and wife, Wendy; son-in-law, Al Milburn; grandchildren, Zack and Rachel Bellenger and Scott and Doug Milburn; great-grandchildren, Natalie Rogers, Jesse Milburn, Tanner and Macy Milburn; great-great-granddaughter, Dakota Rogers.

Gordon was an adventure seeker who pursued the thrill of adrenaline from his hobbies and passions which included being outdoors, racing motor cross and working with farm equipment. He has been a professional welder/designer for 27 years. Gordon earned his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Tarleton State University. In his spare time he enjoyed helping with the Poolville Math and Science Team and supporting school activities.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Sies; children, Andrew, Austin and Mallory; mother-in-law, Joann Hardin; two sisters, Leah and Mikki; and mother, Lillian Sies.

John Ryburn Matthews

John was born April 12, 1921, the son of Phillip Temple Matthews and Hazel Dickson Matthews, in Peoria, Illinois. He grew up with the Illinois River in his backyard, in the town of Chillicothe. He always said it was a great place to grow up.

He attended Western Military Academy and Todd School where he was a member of the swim team. He later attended Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He joined the United States Coast Guard, which was taken over by the Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific on LST Mine Sweepers until the end of the war, receiving Honorable Discharges from both the Navy and the Coast Guard.

Returning home, John went to work at Caterpillar Tractor Company, working in the Mechanical Drawing Dept. It was there he met his future wife, Marjory Evans Bluhm of Peoria. They married May 3, 1947, and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. John and Marjory and their three daughters, Debby, Pam and Vicki moved from Illinois to Santa Barbara, California in 1953 and enjoyed six years there. From there, the family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. During this time John became friends with the famous trick rider/bull rider, Dick Griffith. A lasting friendship developed and John found himself in the Quarter Horse business, a passion that would last for decades.

Thomas Stuart Tofell

Tom was born January 6, 1946 in Malin, Oregon to Emil and Mildred Tofell. Tom was nationally known through his long associations with famous horsemen, Leon Harrel, Dan Lufkin and the Oxbow Ranch, Congressman, Tom Loeffler and Ernest Cannon. He also was very proud to have been involved with these great World Champion Cutting Horses - Docs Playmate, Doc N Missy, Jae Bar Fletch and Bet Hesa Cat. He and Jan owned and operated a cutting and race horse business at their ranch in Millsap. Additionally, he was a racing Quarter Horse partner and long time associate of Jim Ware of Western Bloodstock auction company.

Pallbearers will be Vin Betenbough, Todd Bimat, Mike Haack, Eddie Howard, Joe Landers, Bruce Lusk, Dennis Moreland, Chris Ray, DVM, Bart Tofell and Jim Ware. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Cannon, Leon Harrel, Dewayne Gilbreath, Gary Halousek, Neal Halousek, Wayne Hodges, Gordon Johnson, Gary Kennell, Dan Lufkin, Bob Lewis, DVM, Bobby Nelson, Gayle Trotter, DVM and Sam Wilson.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jan, of Millsap; his daughter, Lisa of Weatherford; his brother and sister-in-law, James and Kathy of Roseburg, Oregon and brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Meralee Tofell, of Klamath Falls, Oregon; numerous nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends, as Tom never met a stranger.

Jack Bryant

Jack was born April 4, 1929, in Fort Worth to the late Al Thomas and Evie Lucy Bryant. He was a longtime resident of the Azle-Springtown area. Jack was an avid lover of mankind and local artist world renown for his paintings and bronze work. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ at Briar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, one sister and three grandchildren.

Survivors: Wife of 60 years, Clarice Bryant of Springtown; son, Jack Bryant Jr. and wife, Susie, of Azle; daughters, Cynthia Bryant of Springtown, Sherry Peters-Anderson and husband, Billy Anderson, of Springtown and Trudenia Shaw and husband, Keith, of Azle; sister, Brenda Bryant; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving family and friends.

George was born in Memphis Tenn., to the late George W. and Wilma Mae Bradshaw October 22, 1925. He was a longtime resident of Weatherford. His interests were serving in the church and vacationing with his family. The love of his life was his wife of 65 years, "Gracie".

He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Sonia Hairston of Fort Worth.

Survivors: loving wife, Grace Bradshaw of Weatherford; son, George Bradshaw and wife, Cindy of Weatherford; ten grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; also numerous friends and acquaintances.
