Mrs. Parten was born Sept. 7, 1922 in Henderson County to Jacob Esau and Gladys Oleane Sealy Anthony. She married Billy Frank Downing June 8, 1940. They were married for 50 years when he died in 1990. Most of her adult life was spent in Fort Worth. Oleane loved Jesus and loved doing His work through her church where she held many positions, including Sunday School teacher, youth leader, women's missionary leader, and deacon's wife. She volunteered for Harris Hospital in Fort Worth for many years, and chaired the volunteers. Upon Bill's retirement and after the three girls graduated from high school, they relocated to Weatherford, where she once again became very involved in church and community. On Dec. 14, 1991, Oleane married longtime friend, J.B. Parten and they continued to be actively involved in their church, First Baptist Church, Weatherford. She was always interested and involved in her children's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's lives.
