From the Parker County Sheriff's Dept.
Earlier this month, Weatherford-Parker County Special Crimes investigators and area law enforcement seized several weapons which are believed to have been stolen along with three ATVs and over two ounces methamphetamine after being prompted by anonymous tips.
Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said SCU members conducted an investigation which led them to an undisclosed address in northern Parker County, where a search revealed a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, three handguns, an assault rifle, various ammunition, a scope and 2.11 ounces of methamphetamine.
The investigation subsequently led to additional suspects, who were charged with theft after SCU investigators enlisted the help of a Metroplex law enforcement agency. Lake Worth Police officers conducted a traffic stop after SCU members informed them of their investigation on two suspects traveling through their jurisdiction.
During the stop, officers recovered three stolen four-wheelers. Officials stated the ATVs had been reported from several storage units out of Grand Prairie earlier that same day. Two suspects were arrested during the traffic stop and as a result of the investigation. Investigators said an additional arrest is anticipated in the case pending the ongoing investigation.
“We’re thankful for outside agencies who lend assistance in our investigations,” Sheriff Fowler said. “That, combined with intelligence and information gathering by our Special Crimes Unit is what made this investigation a success.”
