Paced by senior middle hitter Jordan Jacobs (inside lane), the Aledo Ladycats volleyball team pushes off the start line to begin their annual mile run early Monday morning at Bearcat Stadium. Each lady is required to finish the mile in eight minutes to be allowed to practice. All varsity members finished the run in the required time.
All varsity Ladycats finish mile in required time
As she does annually, Aledo Ladycats head coach Kathy Goings began the 2010 volleyball season with a mile run - a run each player must finish in eight minutes or less to be allowed to practice.
And for the third year in a row, each varsity volleyball player crossed the finish line in the required time.
At 7:37 a.m. this morning, senior middle hitter Jordan Jacobs strutted across the finish line first, running her mile in less than seven minutes.
The Ladycats followed the mile run with weight testing and other conditioning tests, and by 9 a.m. this morning will take to the court for a formal workout.
The Ladycats will practice until 11 a.m. this morning before coming back at 1 p.m. for another two-hour workout at the AHS gym.
The Ladycats will complete four straight days of twice-daily workouts before heading to Stephenville on Friday, Aug. 6, for scrimmage matches.
Aledo will host Weatherford and Wichita Falls Rider in home scrimmage matches on Saturday (Aug. 7). Varsity, junior varsity and freshman matches will begin at 10 a.m. at the AHS gym.
