The opening kickoff from Byron Nelson went through the west end zone and Aledo took over on their 20-yard line.
Following a seven-yard pass to Willie Gibson on first down, Johnathan Gray went 73 yards for the first score in the game. The Nevarez PAT was good and Aledo led 7-0.
Byron Nelson made three quick first downs on their first six plays to the Aledo 38. The Bearcats held on third down to force a fourth-and-three at the 31. Shea Wood broke up a pass and Aledo took over on downs.
A Gray carry for 22 yards followed by a Matt Bishop keeper, then Bishop for 25 more. Michael Mann caught a 15-yard reception. Two Gray carries later, the second for a touchdown, a PAT is good and it's Aledo 14, Byron Nelson 0 with 4:30 remaining in the first quarter.
Two first downs then a long scoring pass from quarterback Andrew Mitchell to Dezmon Gassaway got Byron Nelson on the scoreboard, 14-7 Aledo.
Aledo started at their own 20 after another deep kick and touchback. A 20-yard completion from Bishop to Mann and a Johnathan Gray nine-yard run took us to the end of the quarter.
Aledo was held and had to punt to Nelson, who took the ball at their 20-yard line. Aledo's Jonny Carter took an interception back to the Byron Nelson 15-yard line.
After a penalty backed the Bearcats up to the 20-yard line, a flair pass to Johnathan Gray turned into a 20-yard score. Devan Watts ran left and made it into the end zone on a broken play, for the two-point conversion, making it 22-7 Aledo.
From their 20 Byron Nelson put together a three first down drive that took nearly 10 minutes off the clock before being forced to punt the ball back to Aledo. The Bearcats took the ball back on their own 15.
A holding penalty brought back an 85-yard touchdown run by Gray. On the next play he picked up 55 on another flair and run. Nelson's defense stopped the Bearcats and took over on downs at their 37-yard line.
They went to a hurry-up offense and quickly had a first down at the Aledo 45. Aledo's defense holds to get the ball back at their 45 yard line when time ran out in the first half.
The second half gets underway with Byron Nelson operating from their 31 yard line. After a 1st down Aledo's Dayne Davis stuffs a play for a loss and he recovers a fumble on the next play.
Aledo takes over at the Nelson 30. Bryan Cox has a reception for a first down to the 19 yard line and Johnathan Gray then goes up the middle for those 19 yards and another touchdown. PAT good. Aledo now leads 29-7 over Byron Nelson.
Byron Nelson sets up on their 28 yard line for their second possession of the 3rd quarter. After a single first down Aledo's defense gets the Bearcats the ball back on downs and they begin at the Byron Nelson 47.
The Nelson Bobcats are playing Aledo tough. Aledo is having to work hard for every yard. The Bobcat defense has shown discipline and commitment throughout, and they show no signs of fading here in the 3rd quarter. 3rd and goal from the Nelson 12 yard line for the Bearcats. A weak side flair to Johnathan Gray covers the last 12 yards and Aledo leads 36-7 after the PAT.
Byron Nelson takes the kickoff back to their 24 yard line. After 3 plays they have lost 10 yards and are forced to punt from their 14. A short kick gives the Bearcats the ball in good field position at the Nelson 39 yard line. The 3rd quarter comes to an end with Aledo on the Bobcat's 24 yard line.
On the first play of the 4th quarter Matt Bishop passes to Michael Mann for a 24 yard touchdown. 43- 7 Aledo with 11:52 in the 4th.
A Bobcat possession stalls and Aledo has the ball again at their 18 yard line.
Caleb Frysinger and Bryan Cox have receptions to get an Aledo 1st down, then Caleb has a nice 11 yard run for another. Bryan Cox with a nice catch and run for 21 yards and has Aledo at the Nelson 35. Ben Jopling gets 9 yards on 3rd and 10 and Aledo can't convert on 4th down.
Nelson takes over at their own 32. Aledo forces a 4th and 3 at their 38 yard line and Nelson fails to make it, giving the Bearcats the ball back at their 38. Aledo's defense has been very tough tonight, as is indicated by the score. Big plays from Jordan Mittie, Todd Christian, Shea Wood, and Gunner Johnson were a big part of it, but again, it was a team effort on defense.
Ben Jopling for a 1st down on the first play led to a 37 yard touchdown run by Pate Davis, now playing Quarterback, for another Aledo touchdown. PAT is good and the Bearcats lead 50-7.
Byron Nelson gets 2 quick 1st downs to move the ball out to their 38 yard line, but time will run out with 50-7 the final score.
Aledo's Johnathan Gray had 21 carries for 196 yards and 3 touchdowns, 4 receptions for 75 yards and 2 more touchdowns. A 30 point night on 271 yards of total offense.
