Large sink hole diverts Weatherford traffic

June 15, 2010 by Randy Keck

From the Weatherford Police Dept.

Wendy Field/Weatherford Police Dept.

During the early morning hours, a large sink developed in the intersection of 200 Fort Worth Hwy and 100 Santa Fe Dr in Weatherford. Crews are working to fix the street; however, several road closures have occurred because of the situation. Westbound traffic is being directed off of Fort Worth Hwy (Hwy 180) at the 800 block to go north on N Denton St or south on Jack Borden Way. The 200 block of Fort Worth Hwy eastbound at 100 S Elm St is closed. Traffic heading north on Santa Fe Dr can turn east on Fort Worth Hwy but all other directions from Santa Fe Dr are closed. The 100 block of E. Spring St is closed at 200 N Elm St for southbound traffic except those traveling to Albertson’s.

The sink hole is about 10’X30’ so it is making a significant impact on the traffic in the area this morning and cumbersome for street crews to correct. At this time, we do not know the length of time the roads will be closed or the time it will take to correct the problem.
