The Aledo Independent School District will host community meetings Oct. 3 and Oct. 4 on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness.
The Oct. 3 meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at the Daniel Ninth Grade Campus.
McAnally Intermediate will host the Oct. 4 meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Attendees will receive an overview of STAAR and the changes it represents for graduation requirements and state-mandated testing for students in grades three through 12.
The STAAR test is replacing the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills, or TAKS test, which is the criterion-referenced assessment program that has been in place since 2003.
STAAR includes the 12 end-of-course assessments mandated by SB 1031 in 2007, and the new grade three-through-eight assessments mandated by HB 3 in 2009.
The new tests will be implemented this school year.
