An evening program on getting started in beekeeping, offered by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Parker County, will be held starting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov 14, at the Agricultural Services Center, 604 North Main, Weatherford. Registration is $10 per person and may be paid at the door.
This program is for people who are interested in bees and beekeeping but don’t know where to start, said Jon Green, AgriLife Extension Agent, Parker County. Green said the program will consist of presentations by beekeepers Bill Young and La Vonda Becker, both of the Dino-Bee Beekeepers Club. Their topics will cover bee biology and behavior, setting up a hive and the items needed, bee health, and other related topics. Also, Rod Owen of the Parker County Appraisal District will be present to discuss ag valuation of property from beekeeping.
