Paced by a second-place finish by Colby Cladwell and a third-place finish from Michael Meadows, the Aledo Bearcats cross country team won the District 8-5A cross country meet Oct. 23 at Cleburne and will advance as a team to the regional meet.
The Aledo Ladycats, paced by a fourth-place finish from Rachel Power, finished fourth overall and will also qualify as a team for the regional meet.
The top four teams from each district meet advance to the regional meet.
Another Ladycat finished in the Top 10 as Gracie Johnson placed 10th.
The Bearcats had three others finish in the top eight as Harrison Tillman placed fifth, Oaklin Davis finished sixth and Kyle Gribble placed eighth.
The state-ranked No. 2 Aledo Ladycats swept Joshua, 25-14, 25-12, 25-13 Tuesday night in a District 8-5A volleyball match at Joshua.
The win raises the Ladycats district record to 12-0, while the Lady Owls fall to 3-9.
The Ladycats will continue district play at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 at Burleson High School.

The Class 5A state-ranked No. 2 Aledo Ladycats will continue District 8-5A volleyball play at 6:30 p.m. today at Joshua.
The Ladycats - in first place by a two-match margin in 8-5A - bring an 11-0 record into the match. Joshua is at 3-8 in district play.

The win raises the Bearcats’ record to 6-1 and 4-0 in 8-5A, while Crowley drops to 1-3 in district play.

The win raises the Ladycats district record to 10-0 and 32-7 overall, while Cleburne falls to 1-9 in district play.
Sophomore middle Maddie Goings recorded a match-high 18 kills, and setter Erin Weiss had a match-high 36 assists.
The Aledo Ladycats, 9-0 in District 8-5A which includes two wins over No. 11 Granbury, have jumped to No. 2 in the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association Top 25 poll that was released today.
The Ladycats will continue District 8-5A play at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14 at home against Cleburne.

The state-ranked No. 1 Aledo Bearcats added a Saturday touchdown to defeat the Everman Bulldogs, 38-17, in a District 8-5A game at Bearcat Stadium that was postponed from Friday night.
The win raises the Bearcats 8-5A mark to 3-0 and 5-1 overall. The Bearcats will continue district action at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17 at home against Crowley.
Friday night, with the Bearcats leading 31-17, the game was stopped with 6:29 left in the fourth quarter due to lightning in the area.
The Aledo Bearcats were leading the Everman Bulldogs 31-17 with 6:29 left in a District 8-5A game when lightning near the area forced officials to postpone play.
With a severe thunderstorm cell slowly moving through the area it was decided to resume play at 5 p.m. Saturday at Bearcat Stadium.

Aledo was leading 31-17 and had the ball with a first down on the Everman 15-yard line when the game was suspended.
Play will resume Saturday at 5 p.m. at Bearcat Stadium.
