Class 5A state-ranked No. 7 Aledo will continue non-district volleyball play at 6:30 p.m. today at home as the Ladycats take on Stephenville.
The freshman and JV matches will begin at 5:30 p.m.
The 11-5 Ladycats are coming off a strong weekend at the Northwest Volleyball Classic where they defeated 5A No. 4 Prosper in the quarterfinals before falling to Denton Guyer in the semifinals.
The Honeybees bring a 9-8 record into the match.
Winning their pool on Friday, the Class 5A state-ranked No. 9 Aledo Ladycats will have a chance to play for the Northwest ISD Volleyball Classic title as they advance to Saturday's championship bracket.
The Ladycats will face Class 5A No. 4 Prosper at 9:30 a.m. at Northwest High School.
Should the Ladycats win, they would play in the championship bracket semifinals at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
The championship game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

In their final tune up before the season opener next week, the defending state champion Aledo Bearcats scored the last touchdown of the controlled portion of the scrimmage and the last in the timed segment Friday morning in a practice game at Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club.
The Bearcats will open the 2014 season at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, against Cedar Park at Baylor University's McLane Stadium.
"It went a lot like we thought," Bearcats head coach Steve Wood said. "We're green, and we had a lot of guys who were experiencing their first 'Friday night' type of experience. They will have to learn and grow up fast.
"The offense finally settled in after a few jitters, but we still have a long way to go. We aren't there yet, but we will get there, and that's why we have these scrimmages.
"Defensively, I don't know yet where we really stand (until the coaches watch the film), but right now I am not pleased.
"Nelson (in the timed part of the scrimmage) took the ball and drove 94 yards (for a touchdown) on us, and that is not good.
"We got tired, they were going fast (no-huddle offense) and we didn't get lined up correctly for two or three downs and it cost us. We have to grow up; we have to grow up.

Class 5A state-ranked No. 9 Aledo turned a close match into victory as the Ladycats defeated Class 4A No. 1 Decatur, 15-6, in game five to clinch the best-of-5 non-district match Tuesday night at the AHS gym.
The win elevates the Ladycats to 5-3.
In a seesaw match, Aledo won the opener, 25-20, but the Lady Eagles came back with the same 25-20 count to even the match.
The Ladycats took game three, 25-20, but the Lady Eagles once again squared the match with a 25-18 win in game four.
Aledo jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the fifth game. Later in the game, a pair of kills by Madison Goings - who led the Ladycats with 16 kills - and a stopper from Madison Lopez extended the hosts' lead to 10-4.
The Ladycats brought game five to match point after a kill by Emily Clayton, and AHS sealed the match when Erin Weiss set up Lopez for the match-winning kill.

The Aledo Ladycats will host Class 4A No. 1 Decatur in a non-district volleyball match at 6:30 p.m. today (Aug. 19) at the Aledo High School gym.
The junior varsity and freshman matches will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The Aledo Bearcats concluded their first week of workouts with a full-pads intrasquad scrimmage Saturday morning at Bearcat Stadium.
It was the second day this week the Bearcats worked out in full gear.
"I liked our hustle and enthusiasm," Bearcats head coach Steve Wood said. "We still have a long way to go, but there were a lot of positive signs and it was a good way to end the first week."
Tailback Isaiah Mallory scored a pair of touchdowns. The first was a 12-yard run that was set up by a 50-yard strike from quarterback Luke Bishop to receiver Carter Windes.
Mallory's second TD - scored during the "two-minute drill" portion of the scrimmage - came on a 5-yard sweep on first and goal. That play was set up by a Bishop 16-yard pass to Austin Summerhill on third and 11.

Aledo Bearcats fans came in droves to the AHS Indoor Facility on Thursday for Meet The Bearcats night.
Aledo ISD Athletic Director Tim Buchanan introduced new head coach Steve Wood to the crowd, and afterwards children got autographs from the Bearcats and Aledo High School cheerleaders. Mr. and Ms. Bearcat were also on hand.
The Bearcats will hold an intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday at Bearcat Stadium beginning at 8 a.m. The varsity scrimmage will start at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Meet The Bearcats will be held from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14 at the Aledo High School Indoor Facility. Fans and children will get the opportunity to meet and get autographs from Bearcat varsity football players and varsity cheerleaders. The Spirit Squad will also be present, as will Mr. and Ms. Bearcat. New Bearcats head coach Steve Wood, who will be introduced by Tim Buchanan, will also introduce the team captains for the 2014 season. The event will also have activities for children.
The Master of Ceremonies will be Shawn Callaway, who encourages all to get a calendar and get an autograph from players and cheerleaders. Free face painting is provided by the Aledo National Art Honors Society, T-shirts are on sale and Quarterback Club sign-ups for $45 are open. Fans can also to sign up for 3 Auction Items to win a chance to sit in the Coaches Suite for three varsity home games.
Admission to Meet The Bearcats is free.

Class 6A Waco Midway used a tall and strong front row combined with a solid back row to defeat the Aledo Ladycats in four games Tuesday night in the volleyball season opener at the AHS gym.
Midway won the first two games by a 25-18 count before the Ladycats came back and won game three, 25-22, to cut the lead to 2-1 in the best-of-5 match.
Game four was tied at 20-20 before Midway went on a quick 4-2 run to take a 24-22 lead. A dink for a kill by Emily Clayton cut the lead to 24-23, but on the ensuing rally Midway's middle hitter executed a dink to the right side of the Ladycats' defense for the match-winning point as Midway won game four, 25-23.
