O'Donnell's two-run double in 10th lifts Bearcats to 3-2 win

Tony Eierdam/The Community News: The Aledo Bearcats baseball team dog piles on Sean O' Donnell moments after the junior hit a two-run double in the 10th inning to lift the Bearcats to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Lake Dallas in game one of their best-of-three bi-district playoff series. Game two will be at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, May 7) at Lake Dallas.

Aledo junior Sean O'Donnell smashed a bases-loaded double in the bottom of the 10th inning that drove in Nils Smith and Zack Scott as the Bearcats came from behind to defeat Lake Dallas in 10 innings, 3-2, Thursday night in the opening game of a Class 4A, best-of-three bi-district playoff series at Bearcat Field.

Bearcats bi-district baseball playoff series with Lake Dallas begins Thursday in Aledo

The Aledo Bearcats will face the Lake Dallas Falcons in a Class 4A, Region I, best-of-three bi-district baseball playoff series beginning Thursday, May 6, in Aledo.

Game one will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Bearcat Field. Game two will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 7, at Lake Dallas.

Game three, if necessary, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Saginaw High School.

Tickets at each venue will be $5 for adults and $3 for students. District 5-4A, District 6-4A and THSCA passes will be accepted.

Ten Ladycats and coach grab District 6-4A softball honors

Tony Eierdam/The Community News: Aledo junior Carolyn Clayton, shown taking a cut during the Ladycats/Little Elm playoff game on Saturday, was selected as District 6-4A's Offensive Player of the Year. The Ladycats earned two other top honors as sophomore Kaci Brann was chosen co-Pitcher of the Year and head coach Jeff Lemons was selected co-Coach of the Year.

Aledo junior right fielder Carolyn Clayton, sophomore pitcher Kacie Brann and first-year head coach Jeff Lemons each picked up top All-District 6-4A awards and seven other Ladycats received 6-4A honors in a vote of league coaches.

Bearcats start title defense today with first spring practice

Aledo to face Lake Dallas in bi-district playoffs

Boswell scored eight unanswered runs on its way to an 8-3 win over the Aledo Bearcats Saturday night in a District 6-4A second-place tiebreaker game at Saginaw High School.

The Bearcats will assume the district's third seed and play Lake Dallas - the second seed from District 5-4A - next week in a best-of-three bi-district playoff series. Bi-district playoffs begin on Thursday, May 6.

The Bearcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Rylan Riney reached on an error and scored on a double to right-centerfield by Matt Bishop.

Little Elm eliminates Ladycats with 3-1 bi-district playoff win

Tony Eierdam/The Community News: Aledo senior Erin McGuire crosses home plate after hitting an inside-the-park home run Saturday afternoon during the Ladycats' 3-1 loss to Little Elm in game two of their best-of-three bi-district playoff series. Little Elm clinched the series with the win.

Little Elm senior Nicole Story's two-RBI double in the sixth inning proved to be the winning hit and lifted the Lobos to a 3-1 victory over the Aledo Ladycats Saturday afternoon in game two of the best-of-three bi-district playoff series at Ladycat Field.

The win, coupled with the Lobos' 3-0 win over Aledo on Friday night, gives Little Elm the series as the Lobos will advance to the area round.

Nils Smith rips walk-off, game winning hit in 7th

Aledo senior Nils Smith ripped a line-drive single to center field to drive in Rylan Riney with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Bearcats to a 5-4 victory over Birdville Friday night in a District 6-4A contest on Senior Night at Bearcat Field.

The win gives the Bearcats an 11-3 mark in district play. AHS is tied with Boswell as the Pioneers slipped past Brewer tonight to also end its season at 11-3.

The Bearcats and Boswell will play at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday, May 1) at Saginaw in a second-place tiebreaker game. Both teams have qualified for the Class 4A playoffs.

The Aledo win completes a sweep of district-champion Birdville (12-2).

Ladycats drop bi-district opener at Little Elm, 3-0

Little Elm pitcher Brittany Talley shut out the Aledo Ladycats, 3-0, Friday night in game one of the best-of-three Class 4A bi-district softball series at Little Elm.

Game two will be at 3 p.m. Saturday (May 1) at Aledo.

Game three, if necessary, will be played at 7 p.m. Monday, May 3, at Texas Woman's University in Denton.

The District 6-4A softball co-champion Aledo Ladycats will face Little Elm, the third seed from District 5-4A, in a Class 4A, Region I best-of-three bi-district playoffs series beginning Friday, April 30.

Game 1 will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Little Elm, while game 2 is set for Saturday (May 1) at 3 p.m. at Aledo.

Game 3, if necessary, will be played at 7 p.m. Monday, May 3, at Texas Women's University in Denton.

The winner of the series will take on the winner of the Arlington Heights/Granbury series in the area championship.

Ladycats clinch share of District 6-4A championship with 12-0 win over Mineral Wells

Bearcats win third in a row 10-2 at Mineral Wells

Coming back from a 1-2 start in District 6-4A action, the Aledo Ladycats completed district play by winning their 11th game in a row to clinch a share of the district championship after a 12-0 victory over Mineral Wells Friday night (April 23) at Mineral Wells.

The win gives the Ladycats a 12-2 district mark and 19-10 record overall. The Ladycats will share the district title with Birdville. The Lady Hawks defeated Brewer tonight to raise its 6-4A record to 12-2.
