The state-ranked No. 2 Aledo Ladycats now have their eye on the Class 5A playoffs after sweeping Burleson Centennial, 25-18, 25-16, 25-12 Tuesday night at the AHS gym in the District 8-5A finale.
The win gives the Ladycats a 14-0 record in district play, while Centennial finishes at 8-6.
The Ladycats will face Fort Worth Trimble Tech - the fourth-place team from District 7-5A - in the bi-district playoffs, which will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at Brewer High School.
The Aledo Ladycats, ranked No. 2 in Class 5A and the 2014 District 8-5A champions, will conclude district play at 6:30 p.m. today against Burleson Centennial on Senior Night at the AHS gym.
The Ladycats will try to sweep district play as they come into the match with a 13-0 league mark. Centennial, in a tie for third place with Burleson, stands at 8-5.

Aledo senior running back Jess Anders rushed for 149 yards on 16 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns and senior quarterback Luke Bishop connected on 11 of 15 passes for 238 yards and threw for three TDs to lead the state-ranked No. 1 Bearcats to a 73-7 blowout victory over the Burleson Elks Friday night in a District 8-5A contest at Burleson ISD Stadium.
The win raises the Bearcats’ overall record to 7-1 and 5-0 in district play, while Burleson drops to 3-2 in league action.
“We keep getting better every week and we showed great improvement tonight,” Bearcats head coach Steve Wood said. “Our defense got after them, and it is our eighth game of the year and that unit is starting to figure things out and gain more confidence. They are playing hard.

Paced by a second-place finish by Colby Cladwell and a third-place finish from Michael Meadows, the Aledo Bearcats cross country team won the District 8-5A cross country meet Oct. 23 at Cleburne and will advance as a team to the regional meet.
The Aledo Ladycats, paced by a fourth-place finish from Rachel Power, finished fourth overall and will also qualify as a team for the regional meet.
The top four teams from each district meet advance to the regional meet.
Another Ladycat finished in the Top 10 as Gracie Johnson placed 10th.
The Bearcats had three others finish in the top eight as Harrison Tillman placed fifth, Oaklin Davis finished sixth and Kyle Gribble placed eighth.
The state-ranked No. 2 Aledo Ladycats swept Joshua, 25-14, 25-12, 25-13 Tuesday night in a District 8-5A volleyball match at Joshua.
The win raises the Ladycats district record to 12-0, while the Lady Owls fall to 3-9.
The Ladycats will continue district play at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 at Burleson High School.
