Football fans eager to pick up their season tickets may do so at the Bearcat Store in the Aledo ISD Administration Building beginning Wednesday, Aug. 17.
The store will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 17-19.
The following week, the Bearcat Store will be open Tuesday-Thursday from 8-4, and Friday, Aug. 26 from 8-1.
Permission will be required if anyone other than the ticket holder picks up tickets.
Pre-sale general admission tickets for the 2011 season will be $6 for adults and $4 for students. All tickets at the gate will be $8.
Pre-sale tickets will be available in the Bearcat store Wed. 8-4, Thurs. 8-4, and Friday 8-1 the week of the game. The Aledo High School office will sell tickets Thurs. 8-4 and Friday 8-1.
Tickets are cash /check only until further notice.

The Aledo volleyball team began its regular season today with a convincing win in three games over Waco Midway, 25-11, 25-21 and 25-19.
The 'Cats began each of the three games behind, but generally controlled throughout the match.

Aledo's high school volleyball season kicks off two weeks before the start of school with a dual match against Granbury and Waco Midway tomorrow at 4 p.m. Games are scheduled for varsity, JV, 9A and 9B.

According to an ESPN report of the game, “Riney made his mark on the game with eight minutes left in the fourth, returning an interception 27 yards for a score.” Riney’s North squad won the game 38-14. AUSTIN, Texas—The 2011 UIL Conference 1A-5A football state championships will be held at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, the UIL announced Monday.
“We are excited to bring the UIL football championships back to Cowboys Stadium, one of the premiere venues in the state,” said UIL Director of Athletics Dr. Mark Cousins. “We will work closely with Cowboys Stadium in providing a first-class state championship experience and look forward to creating memorable moments for our student participants and fans.”
Aledo Athletics will hold its 2011 Fall Ball Registrations during the first weekend in August. Registrations will be held at Railhead in Willow Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6 and from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. Registration for honkball is $80. T-ball, baseball and softball registration is $90. AAI's Fall Ball program is meant to be an instructional and fundamental development program. The Aledo 7-on-7 team is competing in the Red Bull Game Breakers 7-on-7 National Finals at SMU Friday-Saturday, July 15-16.
Games begin at 3 p.m. Friday at Gerald R. Ford Stadium at SMU, and continue through 10 p.m. Saturday’s schedule is 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the finals.
Qualifier events were held in 15 cities during May and June. Qualifying teams for the tournament include:

Oklahoma – Metro Christian Academy
Pittsburgh – Thomas Jefferson and Clairton
Fort Worth – Aledo, Arlington Martin and Richland Hills

File Photo/The Community NewsSean O’Donnell, a 2011 graduate of Aledo High School, was named to the Texas Sports Writers Association 2011 All-State baseball team as an honorable-mention. O’Donnell was previously named District 5-4A Offensive Player of the Year. He ended his senior season with a .444 batting average and .509 on-base percentage. O’Donnell had five triples, 11 doubles and 29 RBIs in the season.
Weatherford High School shortstop Kevin Cornelius was named to the Texas Sports Writers Association 56-A All-State baseball team for 2011. Cornelius had a .509 batting average, hitting 13 doubles, three triples and six home runs.

Aledo went 5-2 at the tournament to qualify for the Red Bull Game Breakers Finals on July 15-16 at the Gerald J. Ford Stadium at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
The Bearcats also qualified for the Texas state 7-on-7 Tournament to be held at Texas A&M on July 15 and 16.

The top two teams emerging from the Fort Worth qualifier will compete in the Red Bull Game Breakers Finals on July 15-16 at the Gerald J. Ford Stadium at Southern Methodist University in Dallas to prove who really is a shot caller, play maker and game breaker.
Action begins ay 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 14 at O.D. Wyatt High School, 2400 East Seminary Drive in Fort Worth.
