A crisp night in Mesquite as we get close to game time. The Stadium is Blue on one side and Orange and Black on the other here at Memorial Stadium.
Aledo will kick off to the Corsicana Tigers. A touchback will set the Tigers up at their 20 yard line.
Aledo's defense holds firm, two of three tackles from Gunner Johnson, and the Bearcats will start from their own 48 yard line. A first down is followed by a holding penalty, then Matt Bishop breaks outside to the Tiger's 27 yard line. The yards are hard to come by, and Corsicana forces a 4th down and 8. Matt Bishop keeps left on a pass option and has a 1st down at the Tiger 16 yard line.
On 1st down Johnathan Gray has his first touchdown of the day and 60th of the season, breaking his own Texas single season touchdown record of 59 from last season. The PAT is missed and the Bearcats lead 6-0 with just over 5:00 left in the 1st quarter.
Aledo's coverage team does a great job on the kickoff and the Tigers start at their own 11. The Bearcats force a three and out and will get the ball back in good field position.
Beginning at the 48 yard line, in Tiger territory, a swing pass to Johnathan gray for 31 yards will get Aledo into a first and goal situation. Two Gray carries later, the second for a touchdown from 1 yard out, and it's 12-0 Aledo after a failed two point conversion attempt.
The Tigers have driven into Bearcat territory and are making their offensive presence known. The 1st quarter will end with Corsicana working from the Aledo 34 yard line.

The Aledo Bearcats defeated Gainesville 54-45 on Friday to earn a spot in the Consolation Championship at the Dacatur Tournament on Saturday at noon.
The Ladycats defeated Lubbock Estacado 59-34 to earn a spot in the Tournament Championship Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

Aledo senior running back Johnathan Gray was awarded the 2011-12 Gatorade National Football Player of the Year in an announcement in Aledo on Tuesday morning.
The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Gray as the nation’s best high school football player. A national advisory panel comprised of sport-specific experts and sports journalists helped select Gray from more than 1.1 million high school football players nationwide. Gray is now a finalist for the Gatorade Male High School Athlete of the Year award, to be presented at a special afternoon ceremony prior to The ESPY Awards in July.
The Aledo Ladycats basketball team is ranked 13th in the State of Texas in this week's Texas Association of Basketball Coaches poll.

Familiar foes meet again in the playoffs for the third straight year.
Twenty minutes before kick off, and The Aledo side of Midlothian Stadium is nearly full in a light rain. The rain may be a factor as it will be heavy at times, according to the forecast.
Having won the coin toss, Aledo will receive to get things underway.
A pass from Matt Bishop to Pate Davis for 5 yards gets the drive started off well.
On the next play Johnathan Gray goes right then back left, utilizing excellent down field blocks from Willie Gibson and others to cover 75 yards and get Aledo on the Scoreboard. PAT is good and it's Bearcats 7 Yellowjackets 0 with less than a minute gone in the game.
The Bearcat defense holds and they will get the ball back on their own 35 yard line after a nice return by Devan Watts. On a 4th down play Aledo brings in a short yardage package and Johnathan carries for a first down.
The next Aledo 1st down comes on a pass play from Matt Bishop to Pate Davis to the Yellowjacket 10 yard line. A penalty backs Aledo up and brings up a 3rd and goal from the Stephenville 7 yard line.
Stephenville intercepts a Matt Bishop pass in their own end zone and will set up at their 20 with just over 3 minutes to go in the 1st quarter. The Bearcat's defense holds the Jackets to a single 1st down and they will work from their own 43 yard line after forcing a punt.
Unable to move the ball, Aledo quick kicks from a passing formation and Stephenville will start from their own 10 yard line.
Several hundred tickets to Saturday's Aledo-Stephenville game are still available at the Bearcat Store, located in the Aledo ISD Adminsistration building on Bailey Ranch Road. Fans are encourages to purchase tickets locally ($8 for adults, $5 for students) in order to avoid long lines at the stadium in Midlothian.
All tickets at the gate will be $10.

Friday night’s Muenster vs. Mart football game from Bearcat Stadium in Aledo will be showcased as this week’s “DQ Big Game of the Week” on FOX Sports Southwest’s HIGH SCHOOL SCOREBOARD LIVE show.
A FOX Sports Southwest production crew will spend the evening capturing the big game atmosphere of the matchup for a special segment that will run on High School Scoreboard Live (Saturday, Dec. 3, midnight CT, replayed Sunday, Dec. 4, 8:30 AM CT) and High School Spotlight, FSSW’s 30-minute Texas high school magazine show on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 10:30 PM CT (replayed Monday, Dec. 5, 3:00 PM CT).
Reporter Neil Beasley will chronicle the activities surrounding the game. He’ll take viewers inside the locker room and behind-the-scenes for an intimate look at high school football in Texas.

The Aledo Bearcats face the Randall Raiders in the 3rd round playoff game tonight at Grande Communications Stadium in Midland. The Raiders are the home team for this meeting and go into the contest with a record of 11-1. Aledo is 10-2 entering tonight's game.
Aledo gets the ball first and moves all the way from their own 35 yard line to the end zone. Matt Bishop got things started with a keeper off the right side for 16 yards. Johnathan Gray takes it in from the one yard line for the first score of the game and it's Bearcats 7 Raiders 0 with 8 minutes left in the 1st quarter.
Aledo will get the ball back after after holding Randall. The Bearcats aren't able to move the ball either and a short punt gives Randall the ball back at their own 40.
They drive to the Aledo 25. Aledo holds them there and will take over on downs.
One play later Johnathan Gray has covered the 75 yards and the Bearcats are up by a 14-0 score after Chance Nevarez' PAT.
James Place gets the Bearcats the ball back and after an incomplete pass Johnathan covers another 55 yards and adds to the score, which now reads Aledo 21 Randall 0.
The next Aledo drive gets a boost from a 51 yard Johnathan Gray run and Michael Mann scores on the next play from 23 yards out. 28-0 Aledo.
Aledo scores again on their next possession on a five yard run by Caleb Frysinger. PAT is good and Aledo now leads 35-0.
The next stop for the Aledo Bearcats in their quest for a third straight state championship is Midland to face the Canyon Randall Raiders.
The game will be played at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25 at Grande Communications Stadium, located at 5514 Champions Drive.
Aledo will be the visiting team.
