Bearcats defeat Corsicana 68-28 at Mesquite Memorial Stadium

December 9, 2011 by Ken Hoover

A crisp night in Mesquite as we get close to game time. The Stadium is Blue on one side and Orange and Black on the other here at Memorial Stadium.

Aledo will kick off to the Corsicana Tigers. A touchback will set the Tigers up at their 20 yard line.

Aledo's defense holds firm, two of three tackles from Gunner Johnson, and the Bearcats will start from their own 48 yard line. A first down is followed by a holding penalty, then Matt Bishop breaks outside to the Tiger's 27 yard line. The yards are hard to come by, and Corsicana forces a 4th down and 8. Matt Bishop keeps left on a pass option and has a 1st down at the Tiger 16 yard line.

On 1st down Johnathan Gray has his first touchdown of the day and 60th of the season, breaking his own Texas single season touchdown record of 59 from last season. The PAT is missed and the Bearcats lead 6-0 with just over 5:00 left in the 1st quarter.

Aledo's coverage team does a great job on the kickoff and the Tigers start at their own 11. The Bearcats force a three and out and will get the ball back in good field position.

Beginning at the 48 yard line, in Tiger territory, a swing pass to Johnathan gray for 31 yards will get Aledo into a first and goal situation. Two Gray carries later, the second for a touchdown from 1 yard out, and it's 12-0 Aledo after a failed two point conversion attempt.

The Tigers have driven into Bearcat territory and are making their offensive presence known. The 1st quarter will end with Corsicana working from the Aledo 34 yard line.
