Aledo running back Isaiah Mallory (26) splits a pair of defenders during the Bearcats 42-7 loss to Bishop Amat of La Puente, Calif. Friday night at Bearcats Stadium. Mallory, who rushed for 161 yards on 29 carries, scored Aledo's lone touchdown.

Bishop Amat from La Puente, Calif. jumped out to a 21-0 lead by scoring three different ways - with a rushing touchdown, a blocked punt returned for a TD and by reaching the end zone through the air - en route to a 42-7 win over the Class 5A No. 1 Aledo Bearcats Friday night at Bearcat Stadium.
The loss evens the Bearcats record at 1-1. The Bearcats will play next at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12 at home against Monterrey (Mexico) Tech.
After racing out to a three-touchdown lead, Amat closed the first-half scoring on a one-yard plunge up the middle by running back Anthony Camargo for his second TD and a 28-0 lead.
Amat added two more scores in the second half, the first on a 10-yard pass from quarterback Damian Garcia to receiver Brandon Morales, and the second for a 42-0 lead on a 12-yard pass from Garcia to Brandon Arconado.
The Bearcats got on the board in the fourth quarter. The big play in the drive was a 78-yard keeper down the right sideline by quarterback Luke Bishop, which brought the ball to the Amat 11.
Two plays later, running back Isaiah Mallory scored on a one-yard run off right tackle, and Carson White booted the extra point to cut the Amat lead to 42-7.
