It's feeling a bit like High School Football weather in Aledo tonight as the sun sets. It's in the high 60's as we get ready for kickoff.
Aledo wins the coin toss and will receive.
A touchback will give the Bearcats the ball on their own 25 yard line, 2 plays later Aledo has another first down at the 37. 3 plays later, unable to move the ball, they punt to Monterrey Tech, fair catch at their 25 yard line.
They are not able to make a first down after a nice tackle for a loss by Jared Hinsley on third down.
Aledo gets the ball back at their 34 yard line. The Bearcats get into Monterrey territory and have a first down on a nice run off the left side by Jess Anders. Another first down on a Pate Davis to John Whatley pass to the Tech 38 yard line. Just over 10 yards on the next 2 plays, first down Aledo at the Tech 27. Another first at the 15 and Caleb Frysinger carries twice for 8 yards. Third and 2 Aledo at the 7. A measurement shows fourth and inches, and a broken play gives Monterrey the ball back on a fumble recovery.
They will work from their own 17 yard line. One first down just over their 27 is all the offense they can manage and Aledo gets the ball back on a punt.
Clayton Lowe brings the punt out to the Aledo 35 yard line. The Bearcats cover 25 yards on a great catch by Caleb Frysinger to the Monterrey 40 yard line. From there, a Pate Davis to Taco Anderson pass gets Aledo on the board. A Chance Nevarez extra point is good and it's 7-0 Aledo.

Jonny Carter to the 28 yard line on the return. after no gain on 1st down, Willie Gibson makes a nice catch at the sideline for 5 yards. A pass to Caleb Frysinger is incomplete and the Bearcats will punt.
The Yellowjackets will take over at their own 34 yard line after a sure tackle by Tyson Mauser on the punt return. Aledo's defense forces a quick kick.
Aledo takes over at their own 31 yard line. 1st down loses 8 yards on bad ball handling. Caleb Frysinger picks up 12 yards on a pass to the right flat. A short punt gives Stephenville the ball at their 47.
Two first downs on two plays and the ball is at the Aledo 21 yard line. Another first down takes the ball to the Bearcat 7 yard line. A pass to the left corner of the Aledo end zone makes it 7-0 Stephenville with 8:17 left in the firts quarter.
Aledo works from the 25 yard line. 3 plays and a first down at the 40. A nice Pate Davis to Taco Anderson pass gets the ball to mid field and another Aledo first down. Unable to move further on 3 plays, the Bearcats punt to the Yellojackets 10.
Two Stephenville first downs have the ball at the Aledo 48. Another first down to the Bearcat 38. Two more plays and another first down at the Aledo 27. The Yellowjackets work from the Aledo 15 yard line and a second down pass interference call on Aledo gives Stephenville a first and goal to go from the Bearcat 2 yard line. A two yard run puts the Yellowjackets up 14-0 after the PAT.
Tonight's game between the Aledo Bearcats and the Highland Park Scots, is the 2012 edition of a 13 year tradition, the Tom Landry Classic, on the SMU campus.
The sun has finally fallen below the press box at Gerald Ford Stadium and given the Aledo fans some shade as the officials toss the coin at midfield.
Highland Park wins the toss and will receive.
The Scots start from their 17 yard line. 3 plays to a first down at the 33. A penalty on the Bearcats defense gives Highland park a first down at the Aledo 42 yard line.
The Bearcat defense holds and the Scots quick kick to the Aledo 15 yard line. The Bearcat defense gets things started off right.
Pate Davis keeps for 14 yards and a first down on the first play. A couple of Caleb Frysinger runs, and a penalty on the Scots, give the Bearcats the ball at the Highland Park 48 yard line with a first and 10. Pate Davis and Caleb Frysinger take turns again and Aledo has a first and 10 at the Scots 24 yard line.
A turnover gives Highland Park the ball back at their 19 yard line. 2 first downs and the Scots are in Aledo territory at the 49. Another first down to the 37 as the first quarter ends.
The second quarter begins with the Scots driving on the Aledo 37 yard line. Another quick kick goes into the end zone and Aledo has the ball at their own 20.
Aledo uses the pass, and two big Pate Davis to Taco Anderson plays to score on this drive. The extra point is good and the Bearcats lead 7-0 with 9:57 left in the first half.
The Aledo Bearcats open the 2012 season with a scrimmage against Denton Guyer on Friday, Aug. 24 at Aledo High School.
The freshmen will scrimmage at 5:30 p.m. at the freshman campus practice field.
The JV will scrimmage at 5:30 p.m. at Bearcat Stadium.
The varsity will scrimmage at 7 p.m. at Bearcat Stadium.
Admission to the scrimmage will be a donation to the Texas High School Coaches Association's Benevolence Fund
The THSCA Benevolence Fund provides aide to students who are injured while participating in high school sports.
Meet the Bearcats
The Aledo Athletic Booster Club's annual "Meet the Bearcats" has been set for Thursday, Aug. 16 at the indoor practice facility behind Aledo High School.
Varsity football, volleyball and cheerleading squads will be available to meet and greet beginning at 6 p.m.

They came from as far back as the Class of 1996 to participate in the first ever Aledo Alumni Basketball Game Thursday at Aledo High School. In the end, Aledo defeated Aledo 43-39, and that's all we're going to say about that.

Aledo High School graduate Johnathan Gray was named Gatorade Male Athlete of the Year last night at an ESPN televised award ceremony at Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles, Calif.

After disposing of Fort Worth Southwest in two games last weekend, the Aledo Bearcats now face Stephenville in the Area round of the state 4A baseball playoffs.
Game 1 is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, May 11 at Aledo High School.
Game 2 is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12 at Stephenville High School.
Game 3, if necessary, will be played 30 minutes after game 2.
Ticket prices for each game are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

The Aledo Bearcats will play the Southwest High School Raiders in a best-of-three bi-district baseball series. Game one will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 3 in Aledo. Game two will be at 7 p.m. Friday, May 4 at Southwest High School. Game three, if necessary, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 5 at Southwest.
Due to the Ride for Heroes in Aledo on Saturday, April 21, the Aledo Bearcats baseball game scheduled against Arlington Heights will be played AT Arlington Heights High School. Arlington Heights will play in Aledo on Saturday, April 28.
