Weatherford Army National Guard unit is holding a garage sale to benefit its family day for soldiers.
The sale is sponsored by the Family Readiness Group Saturday and Sunday, March 22-23 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the National Guard Building, 716 Charles Street. Items include furniture, bicycles, clothing, toys, golf clubs, holiday decorations, Harley motorcycle parts and much more.

The U.S. Small Business Administration in collaboration with the Small Business Development Development Center will offer a free seminar to educate small business owners about the Affordable Care Act and it’s impact on small employers and their employees.
Hear from the Health Human Services and Small Business Administration experts about the new healthcare law. The presentation will address how small businesses can use the Affordable Care Act to provide affordable health insurance benefits to their employees and tax credits available.
The seminar will be held Thursday, March 6 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Doss Heritage & Culture Center at 1400 Texas Drive, Weatherford. Parkinson's Support Group of Tarrant County will meet Monday, March 24 at 11:30 a.m. at the Broadway Baptist Church, Third Floor, 305 W. Broadway, Fort Worth. A luncheon provided by Brookdale Senior Living will honor caregivers, and the Arlington Good Time Chorus will perform. Visitors are encouraged to attend and are welcome. The 34th Annual Shaw-Kemp Open House will be held Saturday, April 12 from 1-5 p.m. at the Shaw-Kemp Ranch between Weatherford and Granbury on Hwy. 51.
Step back in time while looking at log cabins, an original ranch house, school, church, grocery store, post office, bank, barber shop and much more. Do hope the bluebonnets will be showing off this year.
Kenneth Murphree will have continuous live entertainment on the porch of the DeBeauford house while characters in costume are walking around the grounds. The actors welcome having their picture taken with visitors – bring your camera.
Mary Kemp invites everyone to this annual event and encourages folks to bring a picnic lunch and be prepared to enjoy an afternoon down on the ranch.
The event is free and open to the public.
The Grand Champion Gala benefiting the Parker County Livestock Improvement Association is planned Saturday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse.
Proceeds benefit the Parker County Livestock Show and sit FFA and 4-H exhibitors.
The gala will include a red carpet social, steak dinner, entertainment by Jake Hooker and the Outsiders and a live auction.
A grand champion table of eight is $1,000 and includes a table for eight guests, custom champion banner, recognition at the social and in the gala program and news releases. A reserve champion table of eight is $500. Individual tickets are $75.

Bearcat Bootcamp is hosting the Back the Bearcats 5K and 1-mile Family Fun Run/Walk Saturday, April 5 in Aledo.
In conjunction with the Aledo Athletic Booster Club, the goal is to make the Back the Bearcats 5K a premier annual event. It will feature a one-mile walk/run and 5K race beginning on the Aledo High School track, continuing around Aledo High School and finishing at the stadium.
The fun run begins at 8:30 and the 5K at 9.
Following the race will be Bearcat festivities, vendor booths and an awards ceremony.

An exciting musical line-up for Clark Gardens 2014 Spring Festival March 29-30, has been announced, with Texas singer/songwriters performing on two stages.
Kicking off the festival Saturday, March 29 at 10:30 a.m. will be Theodore Henning and Dene Colwill. Henning, a Fort Worth based singer/songwriter, combines folk, country, blues and bluegrass. His latest album release "Texas Roadhouse Blues" (H & H Records) comes straight from his love of Texas with a clever collection of bluebonnet songs written by Henning, Jean Cathryn, and several other Texans. Dene Colwill, country music singer and guitarist, has been playing guitar since he was 8. He is self-taught and tries to make every song his own.
Headlining the two stages at 1 p.m. Saturday are The Southern Heritage Band and Colt Buckelew & The Crossroads. The Southern Heritage Band has been playing together more than 10 years and has been nominated for many awards. Nominations include "Entertainer of the Year," "Club Band of the Year," and "Female Artist of the Year" by the Terry Association. Having opened for The Eli Young Band, Randy Rogers Band, Eddie Raven, and Terry Fader (America's Got Talent Winner) The Southern Heritage Band is an energetic group that plays a wide variety of music, including oldies, rock, standards, blues and country creating great music for dancing and entertainment.
Calling all Young Business Leaders to the After Hours Mixer Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 4:30-6 p.m. at Copper Creek. Come enjoy light appetizers and a cash bar while getting to know the other young business leaders in the area.
The February After Hours Mixer is a great time for new prospective members to attend. Along with a great opportunity to meet other Young Business Professionals, all attendees who participate in networking will have a chance to win an iPad Mini.
