The North Texas Bulldogs Baseball Club will host its fourth annual fundraising golf tournament on April 14 at The Golf Club at The Resort on Eagle Mountain Lake with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The North Texas Bulldogs Baseball Club, a non-profit organization, established in 2004 as a single select baseball team, now has five teams at five different age groups consisting of more than 60 Parker County families who share not only a passion for the game of baseball but also a commitment to the growth and development of the youth of Parker County. Annetta is hosting a forum to meet the candidates for town council at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 5 at the Annetta Town Hall. Free hot dogs and other refreshments will be served. Girl Scouts in the Peach Blossom Prairie Service Unit, Texas Oklahoma Plains Council, will host a 100th Anniversary Celebration from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 24 at Grace First Presbyterian Church, 606 Mockingbird Lane in Weatherford. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. All past and present Girl Scouts are welcome. The celebration will include songs, Girl Scout memorabilia, guest speakers, brunch and more. A Bar-B-Que dinner and silent auction to benefit Parker County Meals on Wheels will be held Thursday, April 12 at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse building west of Weatherford. Dinner will be served from 6-8:30 p.m. The silent auction closes at 8 p.m. Live music will be provided by Southern Heritage. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children. Ride for Heroes
The 10th annual Moritz Chevrolet Ride for Heroes will take off from Aledo High School at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21. More than 1,500 bike riders are expected to participate in routes of 8, 23, 35, 44, 62 and 73 miles through east Parker County. Proceeds benefit the Aledo, Hudson Oaks and Willow Park Fire Departments, the Sheriff's Reserve and Center of Hope. Entry fee is $30 until April 14, $35 after; age 15 and under $10 discount and must be accompanied by an adult. Sponsorship opportunities are still available and donations are welcome. The annual Freedom House vigil and balloon release will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26 at the Doss Heritage and Culture Center in Weatherford. The community event is designed to promote victims’ rights and honor victims of crime and those who advocate on their behalf. The Parker County Extension Education Association will host an Arts and Craft Day at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 21 at the Parker County Agricultural Service Center, 604 North Main Street in Weatherford. Craft projects will include decorative bird feeders, pencil watercolor pictures, crocheted flip flops and hymnal pictures. Kits will be provided for these projects. The first annual Fore-the-Kids Golf Tournament will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 19 at the Split Rail Links and Golf Club, 2151 Old Annetta Rd. in Aledo. Registration is $100 per player, which includes green fee, cart and catered lunch and dinner. All proceeds benefit CASA of Parker COunty, which provides court-appointed special advocates for children in the foster system. A spring “leg” tour has been added to a successful “Called to Love” fall tour by Centricity Music artists, Downhere, Aaron Shust and Jason Gray. The tour, sponsored by World Vision, will stop in Aledo in April 12 for a concert at Aledo United Methodist Church.
All three participating artists will continue to showcase the great successes from their 2011 projects.
Aaron Shust: Aaron Shust has achieved a record-breaking twelve-week run in the #1 spot on the AC Monitor chart with his hit single, “My Hope is In You.” The tune was also the Top 20 song of 2011 on Billboard’s year-end chart and recently was the #1 downloaded song on iTunes.
Downhere: Downhere’s song, “Rest,” is #26 on the AC Indicator chart, and it’s from their critically acclaimed CD, On The Altar Of Love.
Jason Gray: Jason Gray’s single, “Remind Who I Am” was #15 for nine weeks on the AC Monitor chart, currently #8 on AC Indicator, has entered the CHR chart, is KLOVE’s #1 song, and was iTunes #1 downloaded song.
Tickets for the April 12 performance are $15 in advance for general admission, $12 per person for groups of 20 or more, or $18 at the door. Tickets may be purchased online at www.aledoumc.org or at the Aledo United Methodist Church office. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the performance begins at 6:30.
