Riley Seymour dreamed about having a special event to raise funds and food for shelter animals for years.
She developed and is set to implement the first Parker County Pet Project Sunday, Oct. 12.
Now a 16-year-old Aledo High School student, she had her first pet food drive for her fifth birthday.
The fear then was that her friends would show up at Chuck E. Cheese with cat food and dog beds and she might change her mind. She didn’t; she was as happy as ever and proudly told the shelter employees that the whole truck load of pet food was her birthday gift to the shelter animals. She explained that her mom tried to talk her out of helping the animals.
In the years since she has given to shelters, adopted shelter pets, and continues to help every stray that comes her way.
