Crossroads Youth Ministries of Parker County will hold a charity golf tournament and concert on Friday, April 20 at Canyon West Golf Course in Weatherford. Registration for the tournament will begin at 12 p.m. for a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The awards ceremony and live auction will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by a concert by Max Stalling, Matt Hillyer of Eleven Hundred Springs and Courtney Patton. Registration deadline is April 10. Parker County’s Angel Tree, which celebrates the lives of victims of violent crime, will be trimmed during a Christmas program from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Freedom House, 1149 Fort Worth Highway, in Weatherford. There will be cookies and wassail, soft Christmas music by Leanna Trussel and the opportunity to add an ornament to the tree in honor of a loved one. There will be a Mrs. Claus Story Corner, crafts, and hayrides. Children 12 & Under at $10 (Includes photo with Santa). Adults are $5. All proceeds benefit Casa Parker County. United Way of Parker County has a regular Parker County Community Resource Group meeting every 3rd Thursday of the month at 1:15 p.m. in the Weatherford Public Library. The first annual Aledo Thanksgiving Trot, to benefit long-time Aledo ISD nurse Marcia Walters, is being held on Thursday, Nov. 24 at 505 South Point Ct. A 1-mile fun run will begin at 8 a.m. and a 5k race begins at 8:30 a.m. Fees are $25 for adults and $15 for children and includes a T-shirt. Friends of Eric Willoughby are hosting a fundraising bowling tournament at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 at Cityview Lanes, 6601 Oakmont in Fort Worth. Registration fee is $20 before Aug. 6, and $25 on the date of the event, and includes two games of bowling per person. The top three averages receive prizes. A silent auction will also be held at the event. Proceeds will go to the Willoughby family to assist with medical expenses for cancer treatment. Special Olympics Texas will have the 5th Annual Steaks & Stetsons from 6 p.m. to midnight on August 20 at the Hyatt Regency at DFW Airport.
There will be live entertainment, live and silent auctions, a VIP reception and more. This year’s co-chairs are State Representatives Barbara Nash and Diane Patrick. Sonny Burgess and his band will entertain throughout the evening.
