AISD presents parenting programs

Aledo ISD will present Parenting University. 
Two workshops will be presented Monday, Nov. 3 at 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. A Q&A session will follow at 7:30 p.m.
Topics include “Keeping Your Children Safe Online” and “Suicide Awareness.”
Assistant U.S. District Attorney Aisha Saleem will conduct the Online Safety workshop. AISD Director of Student Services & Safety Scott Kessel will present the Suicide Awareness meeting.
Parents may submit questions that they would like addressed at https://todaysmeet.com/AISDParentingUniversity. They are encouraged to send questions via this link prior to, during, or after the Parenting University on Nov. 3. Questions can be submitted anonymously.
The sessions are at the Aledo ISD Administration Building in the Walsh Room, 1008 Bailey Ranch Road.

Choirs hosting pumpkin patch

The Aledo school choir program is hosting a Pumpkin Patch again this year to raise money for its upcoming activities and trips for Aledo Middle School and Aledo High School choirs.
The pumpkin patch is Oct. 25 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Aledo First Financial Bank on FM 1187.
This has been a huge success in the past and has helped raise money to cover the transportation costs involved in spring trips. Both campuses will have a spring trip again this year, and this fundraiser can be a huge help in reducing costs for each family. The money raised will go toward the expenses of only the students who participate by working or donating needed items.

Town halls set for school bond election

Dr. Derek Citty, superintendent of Aledo ISD, will make presentations and answer questions about the upcoming Bond Referendum at two upcoming Town Hall meetings. These are:
·  Monday, Oct. 6, at 6:30 p.m. at the Daniel Ninth Grade Campus in the Distance Learning Center, and
·  Monday, Oct. 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the McAnally Intermediate School cafeteria.

Ex-Students banquet planned

The Aledo Ex-Students’ Association will hold its annual banquet Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Aledo Middle School cafetorium. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., and the meal will be served at 7.
All ex-students of Aledo ISD are encouraged to attend. The meal is $12, and dues are $3 for a total cost of $15.
Those who did not receive an invitation and would like to attend, please send a note to Aledo Ex-Students’ Assn., PO Box 737, Aledo, TX 76008.

Golf tournament benefits foundation

The 13th annual Aledo Golf Classic will be Friday, June 13 at 8:30 a.m. at Split Rail Golf Course in Annetta. Proceeds benefit the Aledo Education Foundation.
Several sponsorship levels are available.
Title sponsor is Miller Sierra Contractors, lunch sponsor is Vaden’s Acoustic and Drywall, and awards sponsor is BRI Roofing and Sheetmetal.
Gold ($1,000), Silver ($500) and Bronze ($300) sponsorships are available.
The tournament is a four-player, best-ball format.
Participants are encouraged to put together foursomes; otherwise, pairings will be made prior to the tournament. Sign-in begins at 7:30 a.m. Mulligans are available for $5 each, limit 2 per person. Over $2,000 in prizes will be raffled during the lunch that follows the tournament.
Entry fee is $100 per player and includes green fees, cart, range balls, lunch and prizes. Prizes are awarded for longest drive and closest to the pin. Plaques are awarded for first-, second- and third-place teams.

Two parent informational meetings have been scheduled at McAnally Intermediate School by Principal Bob Harmon April 29 and May 1.
Both will be at the school cafeteria at 6:30 p.m., with the 29th meeting for parents of students coming from Vandagriff and Stuard Elementary Schools, and the 1st meeting for parents from McCall and Coder campuses.
In the fall, all fifth graders will attend McAnally, joining the sixth graders.
Following the meeting a video presentation will be posted on the school website for those unable to attend.
