On Tuesday, Feb. 21 the Aledo varsity softball team lost to Grapevine 3-1
Last year this same team beat Aledo 22-10.
“We played well,” said Coach Jeff Lemons.
Going into the game the ‘Cats were 2-2 for the early season. They had beaten Haltom 6-2 and Trinity 9-0 the previous week in the Birdville Tournament.
Grapevine was undefeated going into the game.
The Ladcats’ Allie Arneson #6 had a double in the game and Megan Mason #15, the designated hitter, hit two singles. Kacie Brann, the senior pitcher, who has signed with Angelo State, had a single and an RBI. Alex Cook #9 had a hit, and Tori Gore, a sophomore, scored a run.
“We scored in the sixth, left the bases loaded and needed one hit to make this a completely different game,” Coach Lemons said.
The Ladycats won three of their six games last weekend at their tournament in Aledo. The teams that competed were A&M Consolidated (5A), Grapevine (5A), Aledo (4A), Lake Dallas (4A), Northwest (5A), Arlington Bowie (5A) and Graham (3A).
The tournament opened up with Aledo beating A&M Consolidated 9-5 on Thursday.
Later the Ladycats lost to Grapevine 14-13.

The Aledo Bearcats made it to the playoffs for the first time in four years, and for a while gave the state's number three ranked Trimble Tech Bulldogs all the game they wanted in a bi-district playoff game Tuesday night at Haltom City.
In a classic case of the game being closer than the final score (61-39), Aledo led after one quarter, 13-12, and midway through the second quarter went ahead 19-13 before the Bulldogs started battling back.

The Aledo Ladycats fell to Arlington Seguin Friday night in the area championship basketball game, 49-44. More details will be available in the Feb. 24 issue of The Community News..
The Aledo Bearcats basketball team will play Trimble Tech in bi-district action at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21 at Thomas Coliseum in Haltom City. The game will be the second of a two-playoff set: Timber Creek will play Arlington Heights at 6 p.m.
The Aledo Ladycats will play Arlington Sequin in the Area Playoff basketball game at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17 at Mansfield High School.

The Aledo Ladycats defeated Southwest 58-37 in bi-district basketball. Aledo led 46-25 at the end of the third quarter. The District 5-4A undefeated Aledo Ladycats will play Fort Worth Southwest High School for the bi-district championship at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13 at Burleson High School. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. Aledo will be the home team.
NBC 5 will present the Aledo Bearcat football team with the NBC 5 Inside High School Football Team of the Year Award during half time of the boys varsity basketball game Friday, Feb. 3.
Go support the Ladycat and Bearcat basketball teams as they take on Boswell at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m, then celebrate with the football team as they receive the Team of the Year Award.
The Aledo Bearcats soccer team will play against Granbury in the finals of the Moritz Tournament of Champions today (Saturday) at 6 p.m. In Bearcat Stadium.
The Aledo basketball teams played Azle on Friday, Jan. 13. Scenes include Ladycat action under the basket, crowd cheering the state champion Aledo Bearcat basketball team, and scenes from Stuard Elementary School's Teams of Tomorrow.
