State-ranked No. 7 Fort Worth Trimble Tech raced out to a 20-10 lead and never looked back as the Lady Bulldogs ran past the Aledo Ladycats, 64-47, Monday night in a girls' Class 5A, Region I bi-district playoff basketball game at Chisholm Trail High School.
With the win, Trimble Tech will advance to the area round.
With a 10-point cushion to begin the second quarter, the Lady Bulldogs (32-4) stretched their lead to 37-25 at the half.
But to begin the third quarter Aledo went on a 9-5 run - paced by six points from senior post Rhylie Makawe and a three-pointer from sophomore guard Cameron Huddleston - to cut Tech's lead to 42-34 with 4:10 remaining in the period.

The Ladycats (15-17) come into the contest after falling in a third-place tiebreaker game on Friday, giving Aledo the fourth seed in the playoffs from 8-5A.
Cam Caldwell scored 13 points and Dawson Gates added 10 to lead the Aledo Bearcats to a 43-39 victory over the Granbury Pirates Friday night in a District 8-5A game at Granbury.
The win lifts the Bearcats to 5-8 in district play, while Granbury drops to 8-5.
The Bearcats will conclude the season at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17 at home against Cleburne on Senior Night.
Aledo led 13-9 after the opening period and 23-17 at the half.
The Bearcats outscored Granbury 13-11 in the third period to take a 36-28 lead into the fourth quarter.
Also scoring for the Bearcats were Michael McCay with seven points, Dakota Fischer with five, Braxton McCoy with four, and Luke Bishop and Bryson Power, each with two.
Cleburne came back from a 10-point, first-half deficit with 33 second-half points as the Lady Jackets held off the Aledo Ladycats, 56-52, Friday night in a District 8-5A third-place tiebreaker game at Crowley High School.
With the loss, the Ladycats will be the fourth seed from 8-5A in the state playoffs.

After 14 District 8-5A basketball games, the Aledo Ladycats and Cleburne Lady Jackets will need a 15th game to decide who will get the coveted third seed in the district for the upcoming Class 5A playoffs.
The Ladycats and Lady Jackets will square off at 6:30 p.m. today (Friday, Feb. 13) at Crowley High School. Aledo will be the designated “home” team.

Needing a win to claim second place, the Aledo Ladycats fell short in a 60-47 loss to Crowley Friday night in a District 8-5A contest at Crowley.
The loss drops the Ladycats to 8-5 and in a third-place tie with Cleburne in district play, while Crowley moves to 10-3.
The Ladycats will conclude district play on Tuesday at home against first-place Burleson.
Two Ladycats achieved a double double as Rhylie Makawe scored a team-high 19 points and collected 10 rebounds, and Rebekah Hissam added 11 points with a game-high 12 rebounds.
Crowley led 12-10 after the first quarter and 25-24 at the half. The Lady Eagles outscored the Ladycats 15-11 in the third period to take a 40-35 lead into the fourth quarter.
